It was announced last Friday that rapper T.I. finally ends his free agent status after grabbing a major record deal with Columbia Records. The news came following the success his collaboration with Pharell Williams and Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines”.
There were reports that Pharell was influential in the rapper’s decision to move to the New York-based record label. Also included in the partnership is the King of the South’s Grand Hustle imprint. Columbia Records added that T.I. is set to release a new LP early next year, with Pharell as its executive producer. As posted on AKOO Clothing Brand’s official Facebook Page:
I’m honored to be partners with such a successful, passionate and creative conglomerate like Columbia Records, who respects and supports the vision of their artist and partners. Nothing but love, respect and appreciation for Doug Morris, Rob Stringer and the entire staff. Also, a special thank you to my big bruh, Sk8board P, for always believing in me and also executive producing my upcoming project.
Prior to this, T.I. put in a decade at Atlantic Records and then moved on to becoming a free agent.
