You know Black Friday is always referred to as the day we can get everything for the best price. And it’s true. If you’ve been following this blog, you’ll know that we’ve featured rapper TI’s clothing line as soon as each new item is available to purchase from the comfort of your own home. Now, do you think we’re gonna just ‘forget’ about the stuff we’ve talked about when they’re on discount? Of course NOT. Below are some awesome AKOO stuff we featured before -and some new ones, but on much reasonable prices!
Those are among the stuff we talked about. However, there are some stuff we talked about, but never been to get it online. First up, the jacket everybody’s raving about, the AKOO Rugby Union Credential Letterman’s Jacket.
Now this is a sentence from DJ Drama about TI that makes fans everywhere wonder: will TI really come home sooner than his supposedly 366 days sentence?
In an interview with Mr. Peter Parker show, DJ Drama revealed that TI will come home ’sooner than later’. Here’s the interview:
DJ Drama stated:
“Nah, I haven’t talked to Tip directly. But I was up at the office the other day and he’s good. There were some rumors going on about some sickness or something that happened at the prison but all that’s false, I know he’s good. He’s getting all the letters people are writing him and everything. Tiny has been up there multiple times even though he says he don’t want nobody to come up and see him. I’m curious though, I definitely wanna know his reaction to the Michael Jackson situation, him passing and even in general you know. You think about all of the people locked up feeling the same way. Tip is good. He’ll be home sooner than later. You know what I mean, get right back to work.”
That’s a pretty bold statement as TI is due to be released in 2010.
Anyway, while waiting for TI’s official release from prison, there’s a good news. TI’s AKOO Clothing Line is on a major discount at DrJays. Here are some of the newest AKOO items on discount:
By now you probably realize how we always associate AKOO Clothing with its owner, TI (who wears them a lot, of course). Well turns out that other celebs -that includes athletes- are also donning AKOO and looking fly. PressPass.TV followed Ian Johnson of Minnesota Vikings and his wife, Chrissy, whom he proposed to after the Broncos’ 43-42 overtime victory in the Fiesta Bowl in 2006, going around New York City a few months back. They stopped at the AKOO office and Ian actually got some free AKOO stuff.
In TI news: We are dreading every single day towards TI’s incarceration. But guess what, the King of the South is asking for his ‘check-in’ date to be postponed. TI is supposed to report by noon Tuesday to the Federal Correction Institution at Forrest City, Arkansas. According to reports, TI asked a court to let him remain free while he looks for a placement in a minimum-security prison near Atlanta. Tip claims that his criminal history was miscalculated by prison officials, due to the fact that his lawyer called a 2003 ’scuffle’ with a mall cop. In the pre-sentencing report, it says that Tip has a “serious history of violence”. So when will the prison date be? The delay is said to be two weeks, but hey, anything can happen. We haven’t really heard about the exact date yet, but we do know that Tip is appearing in yet another farewell concert and after party this Sunday, May 24th, 2009 at Velvet Room, Atlanta.
As we told you earlier, TI headed down to Miami last weekend to attend his farewell party. We got scoop on the invitation, and now we bring you the real deal. Here’s a **super secret** video from the party, courtesy of Gyant.

Looks like everybody obeyed the dress code! Must be a real fun party, although Tip doesn’t seem too thrilled among the bikini-clad girls. Maybe he’s thinkin’ about Tiny, who looked fab, by the way. All the white attires reminded us that TI’s clothing line, AKOO, also carries some real fly white shirts for men. So make sure you stick to the dress code whenever a white party invitation comes up, with this AKOO Rosebud Long Sleeve Woven Shirt.

In a few weeks, I will begin a one-year prison sentence for being in the possession of illegal firearms. Where I come from, having a gun is just part of everyday life. But, through this painful process of going to court and being convicted, I realized that I had to make a change. I made some bad decisions. I broke the law and will accept my punishment. With deep reflection about where my life was headed, I have begun the process of redemption, and decided that before I go to prison, I want to speak to young people about responsibility as a lifestyle. I hope that through my mistakes, young people can begin to learn, as I did, that we have to put our guns down and start to give our guns back. It pains me inside to hear about so many of our people dying because of gun violence. Just in the past weeks, a 13-year old boy was shot in the head in Harlem, a 17 and 19-year old were murdered in a double homicide in Queens and a 15 year old was chased, beaten, shot and burned in Chicago.
We will gather today in Harlem, with many mentors and supporters by my side, including Rev. Al Sharpton, Russell Simmons, Kevin Liles, Political Swagger, Mobile Regime and the C.H.A.N.G.E. Initiative to share the message that now is the time. Now is the time to speak out against gun violence. Now is the time to take responsibility for our actions. Now is the time to make our communities safer. Now is the time to support good legislation, like the S.N.U.G. bill in NY. Now is the time to give back our guns. Now is the time for me to lead by example.
We can and we will do better.

We’re so touched on how heartfelt the message is. You know, sometimes we think Tip can’t possibly be that deep because he looks too cool. But lesson learned: you can’t judge a book by its cover. It’s a new never-seen-before AKOO shirt. But it does look a lot like the AKOO Salute Woven Shirt. We think AKOO should definitely produce more short-sleeve shirts.
The Twitter bird have almost replaced the ’social butterfly’ term these days, as everyone we all know gets pecked and hung up on their Twitter account. P. Diddy even has a Twitter nickname, P. Twitty. Nick Cannon has a twitter account, Soulja Boy Tellem got one too… almost every big name in hip hop has a Twitter account and we were waiting for The King of South, TI to launch his own Twitter account. Well actually, there IS one Twitter account under TI’s name, but after seeing this video, we can assure you that it’s a fake one.
It’s an official video posted by the ATL Hustlers over the weekend and TI confirmed that Twitter ain’t his swag.
“It’s not my swag. I’m an old fashion type of dude. I’ll write you a letter and hand you a picture, let ‘em fly it to you. Put you a letter in a box, floating to your side of the country. I ain’t on the computer sh**. [Twitter is] not for me. No offense to those who do it. Twit on playa. People got the king, just not on Twitter.”
So does this mean we can send him letters to the clinker, then? We’ll keep our ears up.
TI is not the only one facing a 366 days sentence due to the illegal firearms purchase case. Tip’s bodyguard, Corey Williams, who was also the police informant received a 366 days sentence as well. Williams worked for Tip since 2007, and his previously clean record allowed him to purchase weapons for TI. As we all know, the rapper was barred from weapon purchase due to his previous criminal convictions.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms soon found out about the arrangement after Williams tried to purchase a machine gun without registering the weapon. He violated the federal law and got arrested. Upon his arrest, Williams agreed to cooperate with the police and got wired during meetings with Tip, and this led to Tip’s arrest.
TI was faced with an up to 10 years sentence, but he managed to secure a deal of 1000 hours of community service and 366 days of prison time. He has completed the requirement by speaking directly to troubled teens and coming up with his MTV reality show: Road to Redemption. While Corey has already served his time, Tip will be entering jail next month.
While waiting for his day to go to prison, Tip has been busy adding 5 extra songs to his Paper Trail album that will be re-released sometime this year, also tending his cool clothing line, AKOO. Speaking of AKOO, here’s our pick of the day:
Our man TI will re-release his album “Paper Trail” with additional new tracks before the year’s end. The rapper claimed that he’s still in the process of picking out songs.
“I’m still in the process of picking the songs, but I’m also still recording. I’m able to record any time, through the best of times and through the worst of times, I’m still able to record. It may change the sort of song you do, but you never can tell. You never know until that moment gets there.”
The project is already confirmed by a rep from Atlantic Records, but no date has been set for it. Guess we’ll just have to wait. Meanwhile, check out this pic of Tip we found in our archive.

Like probably most of you, after thinking that it might just be a little April Fool’s trick, we were a little bit very appalled when “TI’s Road To Redemption: The Reckoning” which contained the rapper’s exclusive interview with MTV News’ Sway Calloway, after his sentencing last week. We stopped by MTV News’ website, found that angry fans have slashed MTV with complaints and finally read a super-lengthy explanation about why the show did not air. In short, they’re saying that the editing machine in Atlanta had broken down just hours before the show was supposed to air. But you could just watch MTV’s explanation (and apology) right here.
Michael Hirschorn, one of the executive producers of “Road to Redemption” claimed that the crew worked restlessly to have the show available for viewers until 2.30 a.m. Hirschorn wasn’t able to contact Tip until after 10 p.m. Hirschorn said:
“I wasn’t able to speak to Tip until after 10 p.m. By the time I spoke to him, he was still clearly disappointed but philosophical about the whole thing.”
Well we were disappointed as well, although some of us might not be as philosophical as Tip was.

We’re feelin’ the end result although quite surprised at Tip’s anti-diva behavior. It’s admirable for somebody at his standing to have that much patience dealing with slow crews. Guess this is nothing compared to the whole ordeal he’s been through. Speaking of which, MTV has released the deleted scenes from TI’s “Road to Redemption” reality show and we have the video.
