T.I. and Young Jeezy Give Back at the Yearly ‘Tis the Season for Giving’ Event

T.I. and Young Jeezy have been spreading the holiday cheer lately as they collaborated to host the yearly ‘Tis the Season for Giving’ event held last December 20th. It was attended by more than 1,800 pre-registered children who received toys from the two famous rappers and enjoyed a night of food, prizes, bowling, skating, and arcade games. The toy drive event dedicated to celebrate Christmas early for Tip’s Atlanta community also provided the attendees with free on-site health screenings. The ‘Tis the Season for Giving’ was presented by Music Education group in collaboration with Fulton County Human Services, Metroplex, and T.I.’s Give Like a King Humanitarian Initiative. The toy drive event was also supported by Grand Hustle, The CTE Family and media partner, V-103.

Troubleman II: He Who Wears the Crown will no longer be the title of Tip’s new project. As per XXLmag.com, the new running title of the rapper’s much-anticipated album is Paperwork, which is evocative of his 2008 Grammy-award winning album, Paper Trail that included his hit tracks, such as “Dead and Gone.” T.I. made the announcement of the new album title on Streetz 94.5 in Atlanta. In his previous interview with MTV’s RapFix Live, the Grammy-winning artist said that the original title was postponed and added that it will eventually come at a different time.

T.I. considers Lady Gaga’s move to include him and other rappers to do the rap throwdown in her single “Jewels n’ Drugs from her new album, “ARTPOP” as innovative and courageous. As per MTV, Tip thanks the pop singer on “RapFix Live” Wednesday for reaching out to him as well as Too $hort and Twista.

Tip also shared that his part on the pop record was only done after a chance meeting on the same studio where he and the Mother Monster were recording on separate rooms.

“I was recording in a room down the hall and somebody came and got me and said, ‘LG wants to holla at you,’” he said. “I just went there and did what I do,” Tip added. “Just like that; took me a couple of minutes.”

Word has it that there would be a T.I. and Pharrell collaboration soon. In an interview with the good guys from Hood Rich Radio, T.I. revealed that he is working with a new album and Pharrell is executive producing it. On the said interview, he added that they have been working on some stuff that street music fans will love. He also talked about working independent label Hustle Gang and signing up with Columbia for a possible T.I. Project. He also let the fans know about the upcoming album of his friend and rap brother, B.O.B. which will be released this month.

Music icons and entertainment artists gathered at the Orleans Theater in Las Vegas during the recent 2013 Soul Train Awards. The event, which was aired last December 2 on BET and Centric, was hosted by actor Anthony Anderson.

The 2013 Soul Train Awards is a nod to the 90’s music, with the musical figures of today giving their live rendition of classic records. Gracing the stage was rapper T.I., together with Slick Rick, Wale and Stokley Williams of Mint Condition. Jennifer Hudson, K.Michelle, Ron Isley and many more also made appearances on the said event.

King of the South T.I., Jennifer Hudson, Chaka Kahn, and Evelyn “Champagne” King kicked off the 2013 Soul Train Awards with an opening medley. The event will have an encore on December 7, Saturday, at 8P/7C.

Rapper and King of the South T.I. reacted on the untimely passing of actor/director Paul Walker. It should be recalled that he co-starred with the late actor in 2010 for the movie Takers.

In relation to this, the rapper posted a picture of him and Walker on his official Facebook page. The photo comes with T.I.’s thoughts and condolences regarding the actor’s sudden death.

I am shocked & saddened to find that the world has lost such a great spirited person. Paul was not only a passionate, talented actor, he was also a sincere man with genuine personality that filled a room immediately upon introduction. My family’s hearts & prayers are extended to his family, especially his daughter. May he rest in peace. Through all his many actions & efforts his legacy lives on. He will never be forgotten.

Prior to this, it was reported that the Fast & Furious actor, Paul Walker, was killed in a tragic car accident last November 30, 2013 in Santa Clarita, California. He and friend Roger Rodas was test driving a new Porsche when the car suddenly spun out of control, hit a tree and exploded. Before the accident, Walker and Rodas organized a fundraiser event to help the survivors of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.

Rapper T.I. Joins Forces with Columbia Records

It was announced last Friday that rapper T.I. finally ends his free agent status after grabbing a major record deal with Columbia Records. The news came following the success his collaboration with Pharell Williams and Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines”.

There were reports that Pharell was influential in the rapper’s decision to move to the New York-based record label. Also included in the partnership is the King of the South’s Grand Hustle imprint. Columbia Records added that T.I. is set to release a new LP early next year, with Pharell as its executive producer. As posted on AKOO Clothing Brand’s official Facebook Page:

Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” featuring Pharrell Williams and T.I. earned Song of the Year award at last Friday’s 2013 Soul Train Awards. The said event is meant to honor soulful artists, including Hip Hop icons.

The song broke the record for the highest radio audience ever, although it recently caused some controversy. It should be recalled that Thicke sued Marvin Gaye’s family due to lawsuit threats that stemmed from Blurred Lines.

Aside from receiving an award, T.I. performed at the 2013 Soul Train Awards. Other performances include Jennifer Hudson, Chaka Khan, Warren G. Doug E. Fresh, Slick Rick, and Big Daddy Kane.

We already know that T.I. is one talented musician. But, if you’ve been keeping up with his career, then you should also know that the man has some acting chops as well. Over the years T.I. has appeared in a number of top-notch films like ATL, American Gangster, Takers and Identity Thief. He’s also tackled the small screen with spots in Entourage, Boss and Hawaii Five-0. Now, he’s returning to television one more time.

T.I. will be popping up in several episodes of the Showtime series House of Lies. His character will be Lukas, who is a clothing company co-owner with childhood friend “Dre” (Mekhi Phifer), which is fitting if you ask us. The businessmen will enlist high-profile consultant Marty Kaan (Don Cheadle) to help expand their clothing empire.

The former American Idol finalist didn’t just release a new track featuring the one and only T.I., it was also produced by Pharrell. We don’t have to remind you what kind of year these guys have already had.

The new track, “I Can’t Describe (The Way I Feel)”, should appear on the songstress’ highly anticipated third album.
