AKOO fans, now you have new stuff to look forward to this season. TI’s A King Of Oneself or AKOO clothing line has just released sneak previews on what’s to come for Spring/Summer 2010 and we are deeply in love with the AKOO cardigans. We still remember this exact time last year, where we are in full anticipation of TI’s incarceration. Things were tensed, gloomy and every inch of TI’s moves are monitored to see how he handles the 1 year and 1 day imprisonment.
But this year, thank goodness, Tip is in a totally different light. He officially ended the one year prison sentence last Friday after being released from the halfway house in mid February. Tip’s attorney, Steve Saddow stated:
“T.I. is sincerely grateful that he has completed his prison sentence successfully. He looks forward to doing the same thing while under probation. His [emotional] change started the day he was arrested and continues. He has made tremendous progress and is grateful for the opportunity to prove himself.”
Looks like Grand Hustle will have its leader back on the throne. Are you excited to see what’s coming up? We are, and AKOO has a couple of new stuff too.
For fans who are missing TI as much as we do, we’re happy to say that Tip made his second public appearance yesterday at Tiny’s daughter, Zonnique’s birthday party. Tip was accompanied by his fiancee, Tiny and the rest of the family. Tell us, is the man looking great or what?
And here he is with wifey-to-be, Tiny. From the looks of it, we can see why Tiny fell in love all over again since Tip’s release from prison. The couple looked really happy!

TI and his fiance, Tiny ‘Tameka’ Cottle have finally set their wedding date after almost a decade of relationship! In an interview with VIBE magazine, Tiny poured her heart out:
“It was crazy. I seen him every week. We just picked up where we left off and we just, you know, I’m just in love all over again.”
About the upcoming wedding, Tiny dishes:
“There are wedding plans coming soon, sometime this year. Not too big ’cause I want it to be as private as possible. There’ve been a million rumors about us getting married. It’s taking away from the day that we really do get married so I just want to kind of have that moment for myself.”
Okay, this is one event we’ll definitely be looking forward to.

TI is facing allegations regarding his clothing line, A King Of Oneself or AKOO. There’s apparently ‘Akoo International’, a social music television network, that filed a complaint against TI and AKOO Clothing line for trademark infringement.
Akoo International is a network that delivers technology, enabling viewers to interact with programming on large screen, networked HDTV’s using their mobile phones. They also have over 86 million customers via the internet, shopping malls and universities across the country in 30 states that subscribe to their video programming.
Akoo International CEO, Niko Drakoulis stated:
“Akoo has been recognized as a leading social TV platform for connecting brand advertisers with millions of our engaged viewers. Our primary obligation and goal is to prevent confusion among our consumers, which is among the most basic objectives of trademark law. At the same time, Akoo has invested nearly a decade of effort and substantial capital to deploy its network and will do everything in its power to protect its brand.”
While TI’s AKOO is an acronym of A King Of Oneself, it is sued by Akoo International under the claims that TI’s use of the Akoo name has misled customers and potential buyers.
No word yet from TI’s camp but we’ll keep you posted on this. If you ask us, we love the name AKOO too much for it to be changed. Fight Tip!!
TI fans everywhere rejoice!
The King of The South is going to be back soon, guys. We’re not kidding. Sure he was released from jail in December, 2009, but Tip’s now still under confinement in Dismas Charities Atlanta West halfway house. Last week Tip made his first public appearance at a club for his fiancé, Tiny, where he presented a new car for her.
Word is, Tip’s gonna be released on March 26. This has been confirmed by Tip’s lawyer, Steve Sadow:
“That date is correct. TI is now serving the remainder of his sentence in home confinement under the supervision of the U.S. Bureau of Prisons.”
TI exited the music scene with a limited-edition mixtape titled “A Year and a Day”, so it’s no surprise that he’s returning with a bang, louder than before and he will be releasing his new single “I’m Back” Monday, March 8th.

Hip hop major names have reached out to Twitter, and the latest artist to join the tweeting stars bandwagon is Lil Wayne. But yesterday, TI fans everywhere have been excited because the King of the South has joined the social media madness with a verified account name: “Tip”. So far the account has 27,582 followers, and although bearing the ‘Verified’ seal, questions regarding whether the account is real or fake still linger, especially after Tip’s boo, Tiny, tweeted denying the ‘official’ TI twitter account.
Before entering jail last year, TI talked about why he’s not on Twitter:
“It’s not my swag. I’m an old fashion type of dude. I’ll write you a letter and hand you a picture, let ‘em fly it to you. Put you a letter in a box, floating to your side of the country. I ain’t on the computer sh**. [Twitter is] not for me. No offense to those who do it. Twit on playa. People got the king, just not on Twitter.”

Billboard magazine reports:
Atlantic Records confirms to Billboard that rapper T.I.’s Twitter account (@TIP) isn’t personal, but rather a portal for the label and Grand Hustle to officially announce anything connected with T.I. T.I. himself is not on Twitter. The rep also confirmed that there will be a big announcement coming on Monday, as the Twitter says.
What’s the best way to show off a really cool pair of jeans? Wear them? Probably.
But why not step it up a notch?
According to SoJones, if you’re in Newark, New Jersey, you might be able to catch a glimpse of the newest AKOO billboard, featuring a woman kneeling in front of a man with his unbuckled AKOO jeans. This billboard caused a stir among the Newark citizens, including the mayor, and they are speaking out, saying that the ad is sending the wrong message to young people in the community. The controversy grew and has been covered by giant media such as CNN and ABC News.
Compared to semi-nudity that are used in other brands’ campaigns, AKOO has allegedly provoked a city’s outrage. The Newark mayor, Cory Booker, released a statement:
“So often when I am out in the community I see kids wearing their pants too low and others using inappropriate language in public. I will work with my city council to see if we can address it so we don’t see these types of advertisements displayed in our city in the near future.”
AKOO released an official statement regarding the controversy:
“THE AKOO brand has always aimed to inspire individualism and creativity. Our advertising campaign was not created to offend or insult anyone but to simply provoke dialogue and thought regarding male/female sexuality within urban culture. We hope that as more of the campaign is debuted, people will see the multifaceted personality of AKOO.”
